Each year, the Window’s Live division of Microsoft sponsors an event to encourage the competitive spirit between developers. Some of the brightest minds in the world gather in one place, for one day, to see if they can break each other’s code and/or spirits. We were told “anything goes at Hack Day” and the creative brief was essentially “have fun.” With those marching orders, we decided to build a monster computer unlike any monster computer. This machine didn’t just crunch ones and zeros, it crunched keyboards, hard drives, monitors and just about anything within 50 yards of it. It’s hard to measure the success of a project like this but when the posters started to dissapear before the event, we figured we did something right.
